Buckaroo is the grill king at our house! The trouble is that we have a HUGE grill. So it usually is an all day event getting it started, cooking on it, and then cleaning it. He loves to eat burgers at home, but being the only one who runs the grill in the summer can get tiring. Football season is finally here and while I look forward to all of the grub he will be grilling, I also want to give him a break.
See that’s the secret to getting what you want ladies. Balance. So one weekend he’ll grill, and the next weekend, I’ll say, “Baby, why don’t you let me handle the food today? I know you’ve been working SOOO HARD and I want you to be able to relax and enjoy the game for a change.” Boom! I’ve collected enough brownie points to last me until Christmas.
What’s my secret? A flame grilled Barbecue Chicken Burger topped with crispy onions, done in less than five minutes. I’m not joking!
I was in Publix, (you know I have a love affair with Publix) and in the frozen section I saw Ball Park® Flame Grilled Patties. Yes! I actually didn’t know Ball Park® made burgers. We always buy their franks for grilling for cookouts and also for dinner during the school year when we need something quick. Buckaroo loves their beef franks. So I knew this was going to be a win!
They are available in seven varieties, including new Hickory Smoked Bacon & White Cheddar Chicken Patties which is what I decided to use to make his burger. All of that grilled, juicy goodness took five minutes! The patty come fully cooked, so the bulk of the work was done.
Crispy Onion BBQ Chicken Burger
1 small yellow onion, sliced thin
Salt and Pepper, to taste
1 tsp Garlic Powder with Parsley
1/2c. All purpose flour
Oil, for frying
4 Ball Park® Hickory Smoked Bacon & White Cheddar Chicken Patties
1/4 Brown Sugar Barbecue Sauce
Lettuce & Sliced Tomato for garnish
4 Burger Buns
In a small frying pan, heat one cup of canola oil to medium heat. Season onions with garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Dredge onions in flour and shake off all excess flour.
Fry 2-3 minutes until golden and crispy. Set aside on a paper towel. In the microwave, prepare patties according to instructions. **My microwave took 90 seconds.** Spoon barbecue sauce on each patty and dress each burger on buns with lettuce, tomato, fried onions. Enjoy!
If you love Publix and Ball Park® as much as I do you should join the Ball Park® Hall of Flame! There’s a great sweepstakes with Publix gift cards up for grabs! You can check it out here.
He won’t be missing any of the action this football season!
