One thing we never get tired of is brunch and the beach. So the Maple Street Biscuit Company at Jacksonville Beach seemed like a win-win situation in our books. We were right. If you’re ever in Jacksonville and near the beaches you should check this place out. They are only open for breakfast and lunch though. It’s not a diner. If you’re like me and can eat biscuits any time of day, you’ll be disappointed just showing up when you feel like it.
WE ATE: Mandi – BAM! YO YO! (Chicken & Waffles) Buck – The Farmer (Chicken biscuit with bacon and cheese w/o apple butter) + Hashbrown Cake
WE LIKED: The ambiance, and the decor. It was very inviting. They had a little rustic chic vibe going. The seating is arranged like an upscale cafeteria. Perfect for family-style dining. The way you order your food was cool. Apparently, there is a different question everyday on the board and you leave your answer to pick up your food rather than your name. The fried chicken was perfectly seasoned, and perfectly cooked. The biscuits were as good as they should have been when you have the word “biscuit” in your name, but for us the chicken was the star.
WE COULD’VE DONE WITHOUT: The cheese in my waffle. It wasn’t bad, it just wasn’t my steelo. Although I’m a fan of savory/sweet combinations, the cheese was a bit too sharp for my tastes. (Mandi) The pepper jelly. It’s clearly fresh, and homemade, but I’m a simple guy. Strawberry would’ve done me just fine. (Buck)
EXPERIENCE IT CHEWSY LOVERS STYLE: Get your food to go, and eat it stretched out at the beach. It’s literally a two block walk.
